Welcome to Cobbleton!
Thirteen years ago, we stepped away from the servers we had known to start building the type of Minecraft server we wanted to play on. Cobbleton was born in 2011, before netherite, before ender dragons, before Minecraft was out of beta. Over the next few years, the server would evolve with time, each iteration a little better than the last.
Now, it’s 2024. Everyone involved with the original Cobbleton project is a full adult with carpal tunnel and seven mortgages. We’ve long retired from the public server game, spending our yearly Minecraft binges in the shadows with small groups of friends. What we learned was this: You can take the public Minecraft server administrator out of the public Minecraft server, but you can’t pay him enough to write a satisfying analogy. And nostalgia is potent as hell. So we’re back.
Cobbleton Forever, the latest, freshest, and beefiest version of a project started by teenagers, opens its doors tonight. For the first time in years, we’re welcoming the public back into our fold. Our philosophy is thus: to create a classic-style server experience with a modern touch. We endeavor to cultivate a close community of folks who can appreciate the power creativity has in bringing people together.
If you’re interested, look no further. Really. The rest of this post has more information about the server, but you won’t need it. All you’ve gotta do is launch Minecraft (version 1.20.4), click Multiplayer, and type in “play.cobbleton.com”. Our graylist feature will let you explore and chat all you want until you’re sure this is the type of place you want to settle down. At that point, go ahead and make your way over to the “Apply” tab up above. Fill out our quick, unintrusive whitelist application, and once you’re approved you’re good to go.
